How our desk thinks about US Dollar / Canadian Dollar

The loonie is two trades in one: a bet on the US dollar and a bet on oil, since crude is Canada's biggest export. When oil rallies, USD/CAD tends to sink, and vice versa — though the correlation drifts, which keeps things interesting. It's also unusually sensitive to jobs-report mornings, when Canadian and US data often land at the same instant. Our desk trades it with the same level-based playbook as the other majors, with one house rule learned the hard way: certain fade setups simply don't work here, so we've fenced them off.
